From gym memberships to genetic engineering, everyone wants to improve. Charlie Pickering is ready to do it. If everything goes to plan, Charlie will achieve world peace, a higher consciousness and rock hard abs. If not, he will still be hilarious.

Betterman is Charlie’s take on the world of improvement. A mixture of standup and amazing animation My Marta Tesoro and Thomas Pullar, it did an extensive Australian run including the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Perth International Arts Festival and Sydney’s Cracker Comedy Festival.

The show went on to a completely sold out run in Wellington and Auckland for the New Zealand International Comedy Festival. It’s greatest success, however, came in Edinburgh. Charlie’s first Fringe Festival managed sold out houses, four star reviews and a nomination for the Perrier Award for Best Newcomer.

Charlie’s abs still need a lot of work and the world still needs a bit of work, but he nonetheless feels pretty good about the show.
